Jenny
introduces
the
season
with
some
highly
engaging
and
entirely
‘doable’
projects
in
which
she
demonstrates
how
to
create
stunning
decorative
effects
using
glass
and
special
effects
paints
-
including the drawers pictured here.
She
decides
to
‘go
for
it’
and
transform
a
plain
black
electric
guitar
into
a
psychedelic
rock
‘n
roll
piece,
without affecting the guitars playability in any way.
As
the
process
unfolds,
two
unsuspecting
guys
who
have
never
done
anything
like
this
before
visit
the
studio
and
she
proves
that
anyone
can
use
the
pouring
and
dripping
techniques
Jenny
demonstrates
as
they
turn
two
cheap
plastic
trays
into colourful and unique pieces.
This
episode
‘crosses
the
bridge’
between
art
and
craft; the ideal introduction to the season.
This
episode
is
about
creating
a
mixed
media
seascape
using
both
painting
and
collage
techniques
which
draws
its
inspiration
from
the
Kent
coast
in
England.
Jenny
is
filmed
on
location
exploring
the
area,
making
sketches,
collecting
materials
and
generally
enthusing
about
how
things
can
be
used
to
evoke
the
spirit
of
the
day
and
create
something
that
is both an artwork and a memento.
She
shows
how
the
straightforward
techniques
she
uses
could
be
adapted
to
all
kinds
of
subjects
and
how
they
can
be
used
to
evoke
memories
and
as
a
Cadeaux
de
la
mémoire.
Two
ladies
with
no
art
experience
to
speak
of
since
their
schooldays
join
her
and
they
too
create
some
delightful
pieces
with
which they’re very obviously delighted.
In
a
separate
‘minimake’
project,
Jenny
also
shows
how
image
transfer
paste
can
be
used
to
great
effect
in
a
programme
that’s
absolutely
packed
with
inspiration and ideas.
In
this
episode,
Jenny
shows
how
to
use
a
combination
of
resin
and
glass
paints
to
create
relief,
texture
and
highlights
with
rich,
vibrant
colour.
She
walks
through
the
steps
needed
to
create
a
beautiful
painting
and
demonstrates
accessible,
‘doable’
techniques
that
will
change
even
the
most
convinced
‘
I
can’t
do
that’
mindset
and
inspire
a
more
‘
can
do
’
approach.
Opening
on
location
in
the
famous
Gilbert’s
Dahlias
in
Hampshire,
Jenny
creates
a
simple
guide
drawing
using
a
laundry
marker
and
circular
templates
such
as
cups
and
plates
before
‘drizzling’
clear
resin
over
the
the
lines.
The
result
is
a
canvas
with
an
image
in
relief
which
she
then
proceeds
to
paint
using
transparent
glass paints.
Each
stage
is
explained
and
demonstrated,
and
each
step
is
completely
absorbing
and
engaging
-
not
least
because
even
the
least
‘artistic’
of
us
can
see
how
we
could
do
it.
Indeed,
another
two
unsuspecting
victims
join her in the studio to prove that very point.
It
also
features
a
terrific
timelapse
sequence
of
Jenny
creating
another
flower-themed
painting
using
similar
techniques,
but
without
the
resin.
This,
the
third
in
the
season,
is
about
painting
with
the
emphasis
very
much
on
art
rather
than
craft.
The
results
are
quite
spectacular.
